Pauline Lopez of the Philippines took home the bronze in the women's -57 kilogram event in taekwondo after she lost to Luo Zongshi of China in the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta on Tuesday.

After being scoreless in the first round, 0-2, Lopez tried to rally in the next two frames in a bid to upset the taller Luo.

But the rangy Chinese held off Lopez for a final score of 11-4.

Lopez stormed her way to the semifinals by dominating Nepal's Gyani Chunara of Nepal, 20-0, in the quarterfinals and Macau's Xiao Feng, 8-0, in the Round of 16.

It was a big improvement for the 2015 SEA Games gold medalist, after being eliminated early in the 2014 Games in Incheon.

It was the fourth medal of the country in these Games — all bronze — and third overall in taekwondo following podium finishes by the men's and women's poomsae teams.
