MANILA, Philippines – The Sta. Elena Wrecking Balls claimed the last semifinals spot in the men's division of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference, after sweeping Army in a playoff on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Wrecking Balls cruised in the first two sets before standing firm in an extended third frame, 25-17, 25-22, 29-27, to secure the victory in just an hour and 19 minutes.

Berlin Paglinawan, the league's leading scorer, led Sta. Elena with 20 points on 18 attacks and two kill blocks, while Isaah Arda, Paolo Pablico, and Israel Encina all contributed 10 points each.

The Wrecking Balls completely outgunned the Troopers, tallying a 50-37 advantage on attacks to make up for a 4-7 deficit in blocks.
