MANILA, Philippines – Barangay Ginebra legend Sonny Jaworski had reason to be disappointed with how the Gin Kings performed in Game 2 of the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup finals.

Just two days after playing perhaps its finest game of the season in a 127-99 triumph over San Miguel Beer, the Gin Kings came out flat against the Beermen in Game 2 of the best-of-7 series.

Coach Tim Cone had to call a timeout just a minute and 30 seconds into the contest after the Beermen claimed a 6-0 lead. San Miguel ended up running away with the victory, 134-109, to equalize.

"In this finals, there's a word called desire," said Jaworski, who was part of the 15,000-strong crowd at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday. "If you don't have that, you won't make it as champions."

"That's it – no other word. If you have desire, go for it, right?" he added.

Jaworski did not address the Gin Kings at halftime, as he did in previous finals series. Instead, he questioned the Gin Kings' lack of focus in the game, and hinted that he saw a certain selfish mindset in some players.

"I'm sure that they prepared, but preparations will fall apart if you or a couple of guys are out of focus," said Jaworski. "That's why I speak of the word mental toughness, and we have to be focused on what you are supposed to do, in the best possible way."

"Saka 'yung mental toughness nila should come into play," he also said. "But if you only think of yourself, then you ruin the team's objective."

Asked what message he would give to the Gin Kings, Jaworski was once again blunt.

"Obviously, I want them to win," said the Philippine basketball icon. "But as I said, if you want it, you have to be strong."

Game 3 of the series is on Wednesday, still at the Big Dome.
