LAS VEGAS - Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire hopes to also fight into his 40s, just like fighting Sen. Manny Pacquiao.

At almost 37 years old, with 45 fights under his belt, Donaire is only 3 years younger than 40-year-old Pacquiao.

"As long as I take care of myself like Manny has, age is nothing but a number at this point," Donaire told ABS-CBN News' North America Bureau.

"What’s important is being healthy and believing in yourself and allowing yourself to prepare in the long term," he said.

Just like the Pacman, Donaire has been active in the ring, fighting 3 times in the past 15 months.

Donaire said he took time to enjoy Pacquiao's recent fight week festivities as he was also getting ready for the finals of the World Boxing Super Series against Naoya Inoue.

Pacquiao, an 8-division boxing world champion, beat American boxer Keith "One Time" Thurman, who is 10 years younger than the Filipino, via split decision here on July 20.

The date and venue of Donaire's bout, which will unify his WBA Super Bantamweight crown with Inoue’s IBF title, have not been set.

"We don’t know yet when or where, we’re just trying to get ourselves physically, mentally ready for anything," he said.

"We’d like to have two and a half months of training to be mentally physically ready," he said.
