MANILA -- PBA superstar James Yap doesn’t mind getting limited playing time for the Star Hotshots as long as his team wins.

The two-time Most Valuable Player sat on the bench after going scoreless in 14 minutes against GlobalPort last Sunday. In the end though, the Hotshots won its first game in overtime, 105-102 -- their first victory in three games.

“Sa wakas, nanalo din. Magandang start, magandang simula ito kaya sana madala namin sa next game,” Yap told the PBA website.

Yap admitted that his playing time was cut with the arrival of young players in his team but conceded that guys like RR Garcia helped the Hotshots rack their first victory.

“Alam naman natin si RR, magaling din 'yan. So I’m happy for him na nag-deliver siya down the stretch so sana magtuloy-tuloy na yung panalo namin,” Yap said.

Star coach Jason Webb, meanwhile, said Yap has nothing to worry about.

“We are a team of depth,” he said. “There are going to be days that James is going to play a little, there are going to be days that PJ [Simon] or Allein [Maliksi] are going to play a little. We’re going to go with the people that are hot.”

He said that whoever plays well in a certain game will get the added minutes.

“'Yung team namin, kung titingnan mo, pare-pareho 'yung skill level. We can’t say that these are our five best guys, hands down,” he said. “We’re going to go with the hot guy and today, it was RR [Garcia].”
