Blue Eagles great and former PBA player Rich Alvarez guided GenSan Warriors to a 100-76 win over Biñan City Krah Heroes in his head coaching debut in the 2019 MPBL Lakan Cup on Tuesday.
Rob Celiz paced Warriors (3-2) with 16 points, while Mike Williams and Pamboy Raymundo had 15 and 14, respectively.
Ramon Pido, the team’s former head coach, confirmed in a report by FOX Sports Philippines that the former PBA rookie of the year has filled in the head coaching spot. Pido is now the first deputy coach.
“I’m just continuing what coach Noy (Pido) built for the team. It’s his system,” Alvarez said.
In the other games, Basilan Steel (3-1) fashioned out a tough 86-83 victory over Marikina Shoemasters (0-5), as host Manila Stars Frontrow (4-1) routed Batangas Athletics Tanduay (1-1) 73-50.
