MANILA – TNT guard Roger Pogoy is determined to play in Game 2 of their quarterfinals series against San Miguel Beer, after exiting Game 1 with an ankle injury.

Pogoy landed awkwardly after trying to go for a rebound and immediately held on to his right ankle with around two minutes and 30 seconds left to play. He had to be helped off the court by his teammates in the next dead ball.

Before leaving the game, Pogoy had scored 17 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the field. TNT would go on to lose the contest, 121-110, as San Miguel seized a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals.

“Natapilok na ito dati pa,” Pogoy explained after the game. “Tapos kanina, natapilok din, kaya lalong sumakit.”

The good news for TNT is that Pogoy walked out of the SMART Araneta Coliseum on his own power, and the guard is hopeful that he can suit up for the KaTropa on Wednesday when they try to extend the series to a decider.

“Sana, sana makalaro ako,” said Pogoy. “Kakayanin ko.”

Pogoy is also hopeful that the KaTropa can get the job done on Wednesday, after squandering a 23-point advantage in Game 1.

“Wala akong masabi,” Pogoy said of the game’s result. “Maganda naman ‘yung nilaro namin eh. Binigay namin ‘yung best namin. ‘Di namin alam kung bakit natalo pa kami.”
