MANILA, Philippines – TNT KaTropa has decided not to push through with its protest of its PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinal game against San Miguel Beer.

TNT team manager Virgil Villavicencio had signed the scoresheet following San Miguel’s 121-110 win on Monday evening at the Araneta Coliseum, while also writing “Under Protest.”

However, Villavicencio said later that night that they decided not to go through the formal process of putting the game under protest.

“Hindi na itutuloy,” he said in a text message to ABS-CBN News.

TNT would have had until Tuesday noon to file the formal paperwork to the PBA Commissioner’s Office.

The KaTropa were clearly displeased with the officiating in the game, especially after import Joshua Smith fouled out with still 3:39 left in the final quarter.

San Miguel wound up shooting 40 free throws in the contest, making 31 of them. TNT, for its part, was 8-of-18 from the line.

Game 2 of the best-of-3 quarterfinals series is on Wednesday, still at the Araneta Coliseum.
