MANILA, Philippines – TNT KaTropa may put the result of Game 1 of its quarterfinal series against San Miguel Beer under protest.

The Beermen overhauled a 23-point deficit on Monday to defeat TNT, 121-110, and gain a 1-0 lead in its best-of-3 series in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

However, TNT team manager Virgil Villavicencio signed the score sheet after the game, signifying their intent to put the game under protest.

According to PBA commissioner Willie Marcial, TNT has until 12 noon on Tuesday to file the formal paperwork necessary to make the protest official.

Otherwise, simply signing the score sheet will not put the match under protest.

Villavicencio did not speak to reporters after the game, but the TNT coaching staff and players were clearly frustrated at how the game was officiated.

The KaTropa lost import Joshua Smith to fouls with still 3:39 left to play, while Terrence Romeo and Troy Rosario both finished the game with five fouls to their name.

San Miguel attempted 40 free throws in the contest, while TNT shot 18.
