Bacoor City gained a measure of revenge against Davao Occidental, as the Strikers won 73-70 in the 2019 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup in their home court at Strike Gymnasium Thursday.
Reigning MVP Gab Banal led highly motivated Bacoor, months after the Strikers were swept by the Tigers in last season’s quarterfinals.
Banal scored 19 points as Bacoor eked out the tight win against the Southern champions, while Ian Melencio added 9 points.
“Davao, so it's enough motivation para makabawi kami from last conference,” said Banal, whose side improved to 2-1, tying Davao.
In the other game, Bulacan Kuyas pulled off a thrilling 83-81 win over Bicol Volcanoes.
Newly acquired Roldan Sara had 20 points for Bulacan (2-1), as Bicol absorbed its second loss in three matches.
Sarangani/SOCCSKSARGEN was supposed to play against Mindoro on Thursday night, but the game was scrapped due to an alleged internal conflict related to Sarangani’s team ownership.
