Romeo back in Gilas 12 for Chinese-Taipei showdown

MANILA, Philippines – After a long absence from the national team due to injury issues, Terrence Romeo is now back and ready to play for Gilas Pilipinas.

TNT's Romeo headlines the 12-man line-up that will see action for the Philippines in its FIBA World Cup Asian qualifier against Chinese-Taipei on Friday at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium.

Joining Romeo are TNT teammates Troy Rosario, Roger Pogoy and Jayson Castro, along with San Miguel's June Mar Fajardo, Ginebra's Japeth Aguilar, Rain or Shine's Gabe Norwood, Alaska's Calvin Abueva, Phoenix's Matthew Wright, Magnolia's Jiovani Jalalon, and Blackwater's Allein Maliksi.

Completing the line-up is naturalized Filipino center Andray Blatche.

Alaska's Carl Bryan Cruz and Meralco point guard Baser Amer will sit out Friday's game.

The Philippines is looking to duplicate its 90-83 triumph over Taiwan last November.

As it stands, Gilas Pilipinas is already through to the second round of the qualifiers after compiling a 3-1 win-loss record after the first two windows.

They national team will wrap up their first round schedule against unbeaten Australia on July 2 at the Philippine Arena.
