A 50,000-seater venue that usually features rugby or football matches will host the biggest boxing match in Australia's history this weekend, when Manny Pacquiao defends his WBO welterweight belt against Jeff Horn.

According to its website, the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane has a capacity of over 52,500, and is known as "the spiritual home of football in Queensland."

Two days before the Pacquiao-Horn bout – dubbed the "Battle of Brisbane" – the Suncorp Stadium will host an NRL match between the Brisbane Broncos and the Melbourne Storm.

This sets the stage for "24 hours of madness" for stadium officials, according to the Courier Mail, as they have only a limited time to transform the venue into a boxing arena.

"Straight after the game on Friday night, we'll have staff working throughout the night. Once the Broncos and Storm game finishes, our staff will swing into action," said Greg Adermann, the spokesman for the Suncorp Stadium, as quoted by the Courier Mail.

Adermann assured boxing fans that everything will be done by Saturday night, and he encouraged those who will watch the Pacquiao-Horn fight to arrive early.

Gates open at 8:30 a.m.

Sunday marks the first time in Pacquiao's boxing career that he will fight in Australia.
