MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) -- Former UAAP and Asean Basketball League Most Valuable Player Ray Parks was among the 15 players who showed up at Gilas Pilipinas' practice on Tuesday night at the Meralco Gym.

Though not included in the list of players called up by coach Chot Reyes, Parks nevertheless arrived to practice early and gamely participate in drills.

The national team was returning to practice for the first time since the SEABA tournament last month.

Joining the national team practices for the first time were NLEX's Kevin Alas and Meralco's Baser Amer, who were called up by Reyes after SEABA to replace Bradwyn Guinto and Jonathan Grey, respectively. Both Guinto and Grey were traded to GlobalPort, leaving the Batang Pier team with no Gilas representative.

Allein Maliksi and Mac Belo were in attendance, but were in street clothes and observed the practice from the sidelines.

Joining the national team practice was 17-year-old Fil-Nigerian AJ Edu. Also present was Fil-Malaysian Zac Benares, though he did not participate in practice.

Kiefer Ravena and Kobe Paras were unable to attend Tuesday's practice as they are currently competing in the FIBA 3x3 World Cup in France. Also absent was Fil-German Christian Standhardinger.

Tuesday's practice marks the start of Gilas Pilipinas' preparation for the Jones Cup.
