MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE) PBA commissioner Willie Marcial on Tuesday made it clear that the Alaska Aces are not leaving the league -- as of now.

This, after a report Monday citing an unnamed source claimed the Aces are possibly on their way out of the PBA, as their parent company Alaska Milk Corp. has decided that running a basketball team is no longer "viable."

During the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum, Marcial sought to clarify the issue.

"Hindi ko alam kung saan galing 'yun," Marcial said of the report. "Pero pitong taon ko na naririnig na aalis ang Alaska sa PBA. Hindi nangyayari."

The commissioner said he has spoken to Alaska governor Dickie Bachmann, who laughed off the matter.

"Wala. Sa pagkakaalam ko, wala," Marcial said. "Sinasabi ko, as of now, sa pagkakaalam ko, kausap ko si Gov. Dickie, wala."

"Hindi aalis ang Alaska sa PBA, as of now," he added.

In a statement, the Alaska organization said it was looking forward to the resumption of the PBA season.

"Alaska is eager for the season to resume, and will be ready for battle," it said. "More importantly, Alaska is staying the course to show that our team will always contribute to the welfare of the league, and be part of the good to make a better world through our passion for basketball."

Founded in 1986, Alaska has won 14 PBA championships, including the Grand Slam in 1996. Their last title came in the 2013 PBA Commissioner's Cup.
