Vic Manuel fired 22 points as Alaska brought down GlobalPort, 109-103, in the PBA Commissioner's Cup at the Araneta Coliseum on Saturday.

The victory enabled the Aces to gain a share of the lead with Rain or Shine and TNT Katropa with 5-1 record each.

It was a sorry loss for the Batang Pier who erected a 15-point lead only to squander it in the second half when Alaska came back by 21 points to pull off the come-from-behind.

Chris Banchero dished out a splendid performance for Alaska with 19 points and 7 assists, while import Antonio Campbell added 18 markers.

Jayvee Casio and Kevin Racal chipped in 12 and 10, respectively to help extend the Aces’ winning run to 5 games.

Playing minus Calvin Abueva, who was out due to personal reasons, the Aces found themselves reeling against the Stanley Pringle led GlobalPort in the first half.

It became a different story, however, in the third quarter when Manuel led an 14-4 exchange and seize the lead for the Aces, 85-83.

The gap went up to 105-93 before the Batang Pier threatened by pulling to within four points, 107-103, after Sean Anthony’s trey with 49 seconds to go.

But GlobalPort, which fell to 3-4, could not sustain the run.

The scores:

Alaska 109 - Manuel 22, Banchero 19, Campbell 18, Casio 12, Racal 10, Thoss 8, Teng 8, Enciso 6, Exciminiano 3, Magat 3.
