MANILA– His first-ever PBA All-Star Week is shaping up to be a very memorable one for NLEX rookie Kiefer Ravena.

The second overall pick in the 2017 PBA Rookie Draft is the only first-year player voted by fans as a starter in this year's All-Star festivities.

Moreover, Ravena will get to play in front of his hometown fans in Iloilo, wherein the league holds the final leg of the mid-season extravaganza on May 27.

The Ravena clan traces its roots to Iloilo City, where the "Phenom" was born. It will be the first time that Ravena will play in front of his fellow Ilonggos since turning professional.

"I'm looking forward to it, kasi hindi pa ako nakakalaro in front of my people sa PBA," said Ravena. "My family will come out over there. My dad will be joining me."

Ravena joins June Mar Fajardo (San Miguel), James Yap (Rain or Shine), Greg Slaughter (Barangay Ginebra), and Terrence Romeo (TnT Katropa) in the starting unit of the PBA Visayas All-Stars.

They will play against the SMART Philippine team during the event. Chito Victolero will call the shots for the Visayas team, while Nash Racela will coach the national team in the third and last leg of the All-Star Week.

Completing the Visayas All-Star are JR Quinahan, Jeff Chan, Chris Ross, Ronald Tubid, Asi Taulava, Jericho Cruz, and Eman Monfort.

Ravena was also delighted to be playing with Monfort, who was his collegiate teammate in Ateneo de Manila University, even winning the UAAP championship in 2011.

At the same time, Ravena extended his gratitude to all the voting fans who made it happen for him to become part of the starting unit of the Visayas selection.

"Salute to all the fans who voted me into the All-Star game," said Ravena. "Hopefully, I'll give them a good show and help my team win the All-Star game."

"I'll try to have fun," he added. "It's my first All-Star Week. I'm blessed to be a part of the whole week."
