UST bags general championship

MANILA — Swimmer Alberto Batungbacal of Ateneo de Manila University and softball player Angelie Ursabia of Adamson University were named UAAP Season 79 Athletes of the Year during the league’s closing ceremonies held at the University of Santo Tomas campus in Manila on Saturday.

Batungbacal ruled the 200-meter breaststroke, eventually winning Most Valuable Player in swimming.

Ursabia powered the Lady Falcons past the UST Tigresses in the softball finals in her final year. She took home the season MVP honors besides winning awards for Most Homeruns and Best Slugger.

"Sobrang saya kasi iyong pinaghirapan ko may kapalit lahat," Ursabia said. "Last playing year ko na ito. First time ko makatanggap ng award na ito."
