MANILA – (UPDATED) Former De La Salle University guard Brent Paraiso has transferred to University of Santo Tomas (UST), where he will reunite with coach Aldin Ayo.

The development came less than a week after Paraiso suited up for the Growling Tigers in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) Summer Tournament, scoring 17 points in a 93-87 loss to Jose Rizal University.

Paraiso's management at Virtual Playground confirmed the player's transfer to ABS-CBN News.

"Bong Paraiso (Brent's father) … expresses his gratitude to Coach Aldin Ayo for believing in Brent," said Paraiso's representative, Mark Salamat, in a text message.

Paraiso later announced via social media that he was on his way to España after 15 years of playing for the Green and White.

"God is leading me to España, from where I will pick myself up and stand proud," he tweeted. "From here on out, I am ready to roar."

Paraiso was one of three Green Archers – along with brothers Prince and Ricci Rivero – who had to take a leave of absence from La Salle's basketball team due to a team rule that prevents players from signing endorsement deals.

In March, Paraiso issued a statement seeking to clarify the circumstances regarding his leave of absence, including reports that he had tested positive for drugs.

Paraiso will have to take a year of residency with UST before suiting up for the Growling Tigers in the UAAP.

There is no word yet as to the future of Ricci Rivero, who has been training with and playing for the Gilas Cadets team in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup after leaving La Salle.
