Filipino Muay Thai practitioner Islay Erika Bomogao announced she will donate her allowance to benefit the needy during the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.

Bomogao, who won silver in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, is one of the country's national athletes being supported by the Philippine Sports Commission.

According to Muay Thai Association of the Philippines, the sport's national governing body, the 19-year-old volunteered to give up her allowance to augment relief efforts being facilitated by her father, Baguio City councilor Benny Bomogao.

"Na-inspire kasi ako sa tatay ko . . . He did the same, iplinedge din niya ang one-month salary niya and at the same time nagso-solicit siya sa ibang tao para madagdagan ang hinahand out na relief goods," she told ABS-CBN News.

Through the Bomogaos' efforts, they purchased and distributed rice, canned goods, milk, sugar and noodles to single parents of Dontogan, Green Valley in Baguio.

The younger Bomogao, who trains under famed MMA stable Team Lakay, is taking up Physical Education at University of Baguio although she acknowledged she could try competing in MMA.

"Mahilig ako sa sports. Nag-swimming at archery din, pero noong high school naengganyo akong mag-try ng combat sports," said Bomogao.
