Justin Brownlee scored 20 of his 29 points in the 3rd quarter, as Barangay Ginebra overcame a slow start to beat GlobalPort 113-96 in the PBA Commissioner's Cup on Wednesday.

The reason Barangay Ginebra brought back Justin Brownlee was in full display in a convincing victory Wednesday night.

Brownlee scored 20 of his 29 points in the 3rd quarter, as Ginebra overcame a sluggish start to beat GlobalPort 113-96 in the PBA Commissioner's Cup at Araneta Coliseum.

After making just 3 shots and scoring only 12 in his 1st game, Brownlee converted 4 of 10 from 3-point territory, and registered 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals, making amends for a poor showing in Ginebra's opener over the weekend.

"I think returning imports always take time to figure out and remember how hard they had to play for them to be successful," Ginebra coach Tim Cone said.

"It's been typical of imports coming back . . . The good ones, the guys with character, they figure it out get back to where they were once were."

Brownlee wasn't alone engineering Ginebra's 1st victory of the tournament.

LA Tenorio led 6 locals in double-digit scoring with 15 points, while Scottie Thompson added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists.

"It's good to see Justin break out a little bit, but we didn't look good at all in our first half," Cone said.

Trailing by 7 at the half, Ginebra turned things after the break.

After teammate Dave Marcelo's free throws tied the game at 74-all, Brownlee became a one-man wrecking crew, putting up 11 straight points to help Ginebra take an 85-75 lead heading into the 4th quarter.

GlobalPort narrowed the deficit to 96-90, before Brownlee's bucket ignited a 12-2 run that put the game away.

Stanley Pringle led GlobalPort with 29 points. He and Dylan Ababou combined to shoot 10 of 16 3-pointers.

But the Batang Pier, which fell to 0-3, got subpar games from Terrence Romeo and Sean Williams.

Romeo was just 6 of 22 from the field for 14 points, while Williams had 13 points and 12 rebounds.
