MANILA, Philippines – The Adamson University Soaring Falcons added University of the Philippines (UP) to its list of victims in the UAAP Season 79 men's volleyball tournament.

Though they were well out contention for a Final 4 spot due to a pair of four-match losing streaks, Adamson still found a way to impact the semifinals race.

They ended the tournament with three consecutive victories, all coming against teams with Final 4 aspirations. They beat Far Eastern University (FEU) in five sets, swept University of Santo Tomas (UST), and in their final game of the elimination round on Wednesday, the Soaring Falcons stunned the Fighting Maroons in four sets.

Jerome Sarmiento tallied 18 points in the Falcons' 21-25, 25-21, 25-17, 25-14 victory over the Fighting Maroons, which formally ousted UP from Final 4 contention.

Adamson finished with season with a 5-9 record, tying their victims and the De La Salle University for fifth to seventh places. Their victory also ensured that UST (6-7) will advance to the Final 4, regardless of the result of the Tigers' game against FEU on Saturday.

Philip Yude added 17 points, and Dave Pletado scored 11 for the Soaring Falcons, who pounced on 37 unforced errors from the Fighting Maroons.

Mark Millete scored 15 points to lead UP, while Alfred Valbuena had 12 points in his last match for the Fighting Maroons.

In the first match, La Salle cruised to a 25-20, 25-16, 25-14 victory over the University of the East (UE).

Geraint Bacon had 11 points for the Green Spikers, who encountered little trouble against a UE team that was playing without injured skipper Edward Camposano.

The Red Warriors ended the season with a 1-13 record.
