The WBO interim featherweight crown will now be at stake in the 12-round tussle between former 4-division world champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. and Ireland’s Carl Frampton on April 21.

This means, whoever wins that match, which will take place at the SSE Arena in Belfast, will get the right to face the full WBO champion Oscar Valdez.

“A huge night of boxing in Belfast just got even bigger,” said Frampton in Boxing Scene.

“Oscar Valdez must face the Interim Champion when he is ready and that’s a big incentive for myself and Donaire.”

Frampton believes he has to come up with a career-best performance to overcome Donaire.

“With so much riding on this fight, I need to make sure that I’m going to put in the performance of my career, which it might take to win this fight,” added Frampton.

Donaire previously said he is excited to take on Frampton even at the latter’s turf.

He believes he can get enough support from Filipinos in the UK and Ireland.

“I am more excited into this fight. That’s why in training, I feel I’m a lot faster and I’m a lot stronger. I’m actually a lot bigger than before that’s why I’ll be ready,” said Donaire.
