MANILA, Philippines ā€“ After a decorated high school career with National University (NU), Faith Nisperos has decided that a change of scenery is what's best for her as she heads to college.

Nisperos has committed to study at the Ateneo de Manila University and play volleyball with the Lady Eagles, a decision that was four months in the making for the 19-year-old.

She took the Ateneo College Entrance Test last January 19, with the hopes of studying Legal Management in the university.

"(Ateneo is) really my dream school," said Nisperos, who led the NU girls' volleyball team to four consecutive titles, in the process winning two MVPs and two Finals MVPs.

"That's one big factor, kaya ko napili," she explained. "Siyempre, it's not that NU can't provide what I want, but I just see that Ateneo can provide more of it. That's why I chose this school."

Nisperos fully expects Ateneo to provide a challenging "study environment" for her, and it is a challenge that she plans to meet head on.

"A goal for myself is, I want to reach the standard that they're having," she said. "'Yun ang gusto ko."

Of course, plenty is expected of Nisperos as well, given her high school career. Aside from winning the MVP award in Seasons 77 and 79, she was also the Finals MVP in Seasons 78 and 80, and the First Best Outside Spiker in Seasons 79 and 80. In Season 78, she was the Best Attacker in the girls' division.

She has also received a seal of approval from Ateneo legend Alyssa Valdez, whom she has long considered her idol.

"Expected na, that people will have their own expectations," acknowledged Nisperos, who watched on Sunday as the Lady Eagles defeated University of the Philippines in three sets at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The teenager said she cannot dwell on what other people think about her, however.

"I'm not really into pressuring myself, into meeting their expectations," Nisperos explained.

"I just set my goal and expectations for myself, para hindi ako ma-pressure. I'll be taking it one step at a time," she said.
