MANILA, Philippines – Far Eastern University (FEU) and National University (NU) registered straight sets victories on Wednesday to keep their places in the top four of the UAAP Season 79 men's volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The NU Bulldogs cruised to a 25-23, 25-18, 25-19 victory over University of Santo Tomas (UST) to improve to 5-1 and stay at solo second.

Fauzi Ismail and Francis Saura each scored 12 points, while Bryan Bagunas added 10 markers, as the Bulldogs used their superior net defense to frustrate the Tiger Spikers.

NU had 10 kill blocks, and also served up seven aces, while Kim Dayandante orchestrated their offense en route to 45 excellent sets.

UST dropped to 3-3.

The FEU Tamaraws, meanwhile, rode the momentum of their win in an extended first set to romp past University of the Philippines (UP), 27-25, 25-17, 25-20, to improve to 4-2 and stay in third place.

Jude Garcia had 12 points built on all-around numbers of seven attacks, three blocks, and two aces, while Peter Quiel added 10 points, all of which came on attacks.

Mark Millete had 16 points and Wendel Miguel added 11 for the Fighting Maroons, but their performance was hampered by 28 unforced errors.

UP is now at 3-3, tied with UST for a share of fourth place. Still pacing the men's division are the defending champions Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles (6-0).
