Davao Occidental Tigers held Bicol Volcanoes scoreless in overtime to gut out a 64-56 win to advance to the South semifinals of the Chooks-to-Go MPBL Lakan Cup at RMC Petro Gazz Arena on Wednesday.

The victory set a best-of-3 showdown between Tigers and Zamboanga Family's Brand Sardines, which eliminated Batangas City Athletics Tanduay in the other quarterfinals series.

Mark Yee was the biggest thorn on Bicol's side, as he played a key role in the extra period despite being hobbled by a partial ACL tear. He finished with 4 points and 6 boards.

Bonbon Custodio led Davao Occidental with 14 points.

In the other game, Zamboanga beat Batangas 69-52.

Harold Arboleda kept Zamboanga afloat in the middle quarters, finishing with 15 points. Then, Robin Rono and Santi Santillan connected on their shots in the final period to engineer the win.

Rono knocked down 3 triples while Santillan had 4 when Zamboanga embarked on a 17-4 run that gave it a 67-50 lead with 2:19 left.

It was a disappointing end to Batangas' season after making it to the South finals a year ago.

Jeff Viernes paced Athletics with 13 points.
