MANILA, Philippines – San Miguel forward Arwind Santos believes a non-call in the dying moments of Game 2 denied the Beermen a chance to complete the greatest Finals comeback in PBA history against Barangay Ginebra last Sunday.

San Miguel trailed by 26 points in the first half, but rallied all the way back to take a 110-108 lead with just 3.2 seconds left to play. It appeared as though the Beermen clinched the win after Santos blocked Joe Devance's lay-up in Ginebra's last possession, but Devance was able to retain possession and convert just as the buzzer sounded.

After a long review, the shot was counted, and Ginebra won in overtime, 124-118, to tie the Philippine Cup Finals at 1-1.

"Sayang, andoon na kami," said Santos, who finished with 23 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.

Asked about Devance's final shot, Santos said: "Dapat nga, foul pa 'yun. May tulak pa 'yun."

Replays showed that Santos was unable to contest Devance's putback as he had fallen on the floor after the Ginebra forward's initial attempt.

"Pwede pang tawagan ng double kasi hindi naman tumama ng board," Santos further explained. "Natapik ko noong nasa kamay niya. Pero noong binato na niya, hindi na tumama 'yun."

It was not his lone complaint about officiating. Santos also questioned the calls made against superstar center June Mar Fajardo, who fouled out in the fourth period and played 26 minutes.

"Hindi maganda 'yung tawag ng mga referee kay June Mar," he said.

Santos, however, shrugged off the perceived non-call, saying: "Hindi na namin tinitignan 'yan. Move on na kami para sa Game 3."

The forward instead chose to focus on the positives, especially since they were even able to drag Ginebra to overtime despite missing Marcio Lassiter, who was ejected late in the third quarter, and Fajardo.

"Ang maganda dito, nahabol namin 'yung malaki nilang kalamangan," Santos said.

The Beermen will try to bounce back on Game 3 on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.
