MANILA, Philippines – Thirdy Ravena's sublime performance in Gilas Pilipinas' game against Indonesia last Sunday earned him a mention as one of the future stars of FIBA Asia.

Ravena was the leading scorer in the Philippines' 100-70 rout of Indonesia in their first game of the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 qualifiers, putting up 23 points off the bench.

He also had 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks – including a highlight reel rejection of Abraham Grahita and a nifty layup off an alley-oop by his older brother, Kiefer.

"Thirdy Ravena also had a massive game for the Philippines," FIBA noted in its recap of the first qualifying window. "The 23-year-old even outplayed his brother in their win over Indonesia."

Other young standouts were Lebanon's 20-year-old guard Karim Zeinoun, Jordan's 23-year-old Freddy Ibrahim, and India's 23-year-old Muin Bek Hafeez.

"There were plenty of opportunities given to these youngsters, and they used those opportunities well to generate some buzz," according to FIBA.

"The list of promising youngsters from the Asia Cup qualifiers could go on and on. Let’s leave this with the conclusion that the future for basketball in Asia/Oceania is quite bright and promising."
