MANILA -- National University (NU) head coach Roger Gorayeb had the liberty to experiment with his rotation but still got the same result against the listless Adamson University Lady Falcons, 25-15, 25-22, 25-19, Sunday to take the solo lead in the 79th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan.

Just like in their first two games, it’s the duo of 6-foot-5 Jaja Santiago and Jorelle Singh that did most of the damage slicing the defense of the Lady Falcons to get their usual productions to help the Lady Bulldogs win their third straight match in as many games.

Santiago scored 15 points, seven coming off NU's total of 11 service aces, while Aiko Urdas and Singh had eight and seven markers, respectively.

The Lady Bulldogs face reigning champion De La Salle University next Saturday.

NU had to sweat it out in the first two sets especially in the second frame. The Lady Falcons were able to take the lead 21-18 in the second set with Santiago and Singh spending most of the frame sitting on the bench.

Adamson enjoyed a 22-20 lead but with Santiago back inside, NU scored the next five points to take a 2-0 match lead.

In the third set, Gorayeb sat out main setter Jasmine Nabor to test his secondary playmaker Laarnie Aberin. The Lady Falcons were able to take a 13-9 lead but just like the first two sets, NU easily erased the deficit.

"Maayos naman ang naging laro kanina kaya lang para bang nag-relax 'yung attitude nila sa laro," said Gorayeb. "Siyempre mas gusto ko sana na i-maintain nila 'yung aggressiveness nila sa laro."

Adamson, which showed some resistance in the opening set, taking a 2-0 lead and tying it at 10 before eventually folding to the rampaging Lady Bulldogs, dropped their third straight game to slide further down the cellar.

Jema Galanza, for the first time in three games, scored in double figures with 10 points after averaging only seven markers in the Lady Falcons' first two outings. Bernadette Flora had eight points while Ronjean Momo got seven for Adamson, which gave away 31 points off errors.

The Lady Falcons continue to get a bumpy ride in their elims campaign with Adamson facing an equally tall and dangerous Ateneo de Manila University on Saturday before taking on DLSU on February 23.
