ANTIPOLO—Matthew Wright was pleased with Phoenix Pulse’s 4-game winning streak in the PBA Philippine Cup, but he feels the team still has a long way to go.

The sharp-shooting swingman played a key role in the Fuel Masters' 114-95 rout of Blackwater at Ynares Center here on Friday night, but he thinks the league leaders remain a work in process.

“It’s a good feeling to win, but we're not even halfway in the conference. We haven’t faced the best teams yet so we're not getting ahead of ourselves,” said Wright, who scored 19 points and had a game-high 7 assists against Blackwater.

“Every day, we're going to bring our defense, rebounding and toughness. That’s our identity now. That’s part and parcel of what Phoenix Pulse is now,” he added.

The Fuel Masters now occupy the top spot by virtue of their immaculate 4-0 record.

But Wright said he feels they need more experience to be at par with more established teams.

“We just have to get better, play game situations, things that San Miguel and Ginebra are good at. Offense execution at the clutch, it comes down to experience when put into those positions,” said Wright.

Calvin Abueva led Phoenix with 22 points and 14 rebounds while RJ Jazul contributed 11 points and 3 3-pointers to power the team to its best start to a conference in franchise history.
