MANILA, Philippines – Jose Rizal University (JRU) stood strong in the end game to hold off Batangas, 70-65, and notch its second consecutive victory in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Ervin Grospe had a team-high 20 points and three rebounds to spearhead the Heavy Bombers' charge.

However, it was veteran point guard Tey Teodoro who helped JRU take control of the game in the third quarter, where he fired seven of his 18 points. The Heavy Bombers surged to an 11-point lead, 53-42, in the frame.

"Our defense today was a big improvement, compared to our last game," said JRU coach Vergel Meneses.
