Rescue operations are being undertaken in several areas in Quezon Province on Sunday due to severe flooding caused by severe Tropical Storm Aghon.

In Mauban, Quezon, 12 barangays are being evacuated, but this information is not yet complete as some areas have lost power and cannot be reached, according to its Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO). In some locations, floodwaters are already above head level.

Meanwhile, photos on the official Facebook page of the Provincial Government of Quezon show the Quezon Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, together with DRRMO Lucena City and the Philippine Air Force, using rubber boats to evacuate residents from Brgy. Kanlurang Mayao in Lucena City.

As of this posting, no official from the Quezon Provincial Disaster Risk Management has been available for comment due to the ongoing rescue operations.

The Quezon Provincial Government also issued a Memorandum Circular on Sunday suspending all classes at all levels and government work due to the effects of severe Tropical Storm Aghon in the province, including the cities of Lucena and Tayabas.
