Duterte's representative Atty. Elijah Manuel Pepito filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections Davao District office on Monday morning.

Paolo Duterte is the eldest son of former President Rodrigo Duterte and has been the representative of Davao City's First District since 2019.

He served as Davao City vice mayor from 2013 until his sudden resignation in December 2017.

Meanwhile, Civil Service Commission chairperson Karlo Nograles also arrived at the Comelec office to accompany Javi Campos, who filed his COC for the city's Second District congressional race.

Nograles did not comment when asked by the media if he would run in the local elections, particularly for mayor, a position that former President Duterte has also expressed interest in running for again in Davao City.

Nograles said his sister, PBA party-list Rep. Migs Nograles, could file her COC on Monday or Tuesday. He did not disclose which position she would run for.

As of noon on Monday, some 50 aspirants have filed their COCs for various positions in Davao City, including most candidates under Duterte’s Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod.
