A Filipino-American soldier died while serving on his fourth combat deployment in Afghanistan.

Staff Sergeant Reymund Rarogal Transfiguracion, a green beret from joint base Lewis-McChord in Washington, died on Sunday from injuries sustained in an explosion in Helmand province.

The 36-year-old Transfiguracion was on patrol last August 7 when he was wounded by an improvised explosive device. He died at a hospital five days later.
