Additional warning signs have been put at the Steveston Harbour in Richmond, British Columbia, after a sea lion incident caught on camera showed dramatic video of the marine mammal dragging a young girl into the water last week.

Pinay mom Kristine Dillague lives near the area and frequents Steveston with her three kids. She was shocked after seeing the video.

In a statement, the Vancouver Aquarium confirmed the young girl got a superficial wound as a result of the incident and was receiving appropriate treatment.
The public has been warned that sea lion bites have a certain form of bacteria that can be deadly if left untreated.
But even without the added signs, some kababayans say the incident should serve as a lesson.
“Iyong nerbyos mo na it could happen to anybody talaga. We have to be extra careful not to feed the animals,” Mira Bautista said.

Dillague added: “We should always be watchful of our kids and educate the kids na mga wild animals pa rin and kahit cute sila we should not feed them.”
Steveston has seen an extra surge in visitors this week, all wanting to take a look at where the sea lion incident happened.
