CALIFORNIA — Ali Abulaban — a former popular TikToker, who went by “Jinnkid” on social media — was sentenced on Friday in San Diego, California, to two consecutive terms of life without the possibility of parole plus 50 years, for shooting to death his Filipina wife, 28-year-old Ana Abulaban and her friend, 29-year-old Rayburn Cardenas Barron three years ago. 

Abulaban, 32 and who was already estranged from his wife, went to her apartment in San Diego on October 21, 2021, armed with a gun after learning from a listening device he installed on their 5-year-old daughter’s iPad that there was a man in her house.

Ali and Ana met in Japan in 2014 when Ali was serving in the US Air Force.

Ali moved back to the US after having been discharged and Ana back to the Philippines.

In 2017, the two married and lived in Virginia with their daughter before moving to California.

According to the prosecutor, Abulaban’s controlling and abusive behavior prompted the separation.
