MANILA — Several senators on Friday expressed outrage over photos of Alice Guo looking "happy" in selfies with Philippine government personnel, who were flown to Jakarta, Indonesia to facilitate her deportation.

The former Bamban, Tarlac mayor, last seen by the public in May, also appeared in a light and cheerful mood based on videos taken by Filipino reporters who went to Jakarta.

In a photo that has gone viral, Guo could be seen sitting next to some National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) personnel inside a vehicle, with big smile on her face. In another photo, Guo was making a peace sign next to PNP chief Rommel Marbil and DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos.

The photos did not sit well with Hontiveros, who reminded government officials of Guo's alleged crimes in the Philippines.

Hontiveros also lambasted Guo for treating her arrest as a "fan meet."

Unli-pictures sya doon," the senator said.

Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian questioned the professionalism of the law enforcement personnel who took selfies with Guo, saying their agencies should not let this pass.

Upon their arrival in the Philippines early morning Friday, Abalos addressed the criticisms on the photos.

"That's so unfair, isipin nyo with all of these efforts, nagpunta kami don,. hindi namin alam kung [maiuuwi sya] and yet nakuha namin. Just because of one picture, ni hindi ako nakatingin, di ko alam ano pinaggagawa niya, malay ko ba na ganon itsura niya," Abalos said.

Abalos said photos were taken as part of the documentation of the mission.

Guo also admitted that she was "happy" in the presence of the Philippine government personnel because she felt "safe."

The Philippine National Police vowed that Guo would not be given special treatment while under its custody, due to an arrest warrant issued by a Tarlac court.

The PNP said that until Guo’s camp has not filed for bail for her graft and corruption cases filed by the interior department, her custody shall remain in Camp Crame.
