MANILA — Lawyer Stephen David, who, until last week was assuring the public that dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo was in the Philippines, has lost communication with his client.

Guo is said to have left the country, according to authorities, citing information from counterparts in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

“I have not communicated with Mayor Alice Guo for several days already,” he told ABS-CBN News in a text message.

David also refrained from commenting on the statement from the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) suggesting that Guo might be heading to the Golden Triangle, a region notorious for crime and controlled by syndicates and triads in Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos.

“I don’t have any idea,” David said.

Earlier, PAOCC Spokesperson Winston Casio mentioned that Guo's family has business interests in Cambodia.

“They are part of a large criminal organization known as the Fujian Gang, which is linked to the Golden Triangle triad,” he said.

The Office of the Ombudsman ordered Guo dismissed from government service earlier this month for grave misconduct for her involvement in an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator in Bamban.

Guo is facinga human trafficking complaint  at the Department of Justice and is subject to a quo warranto petition from the Office of the Solicitor General over questions on her citizenship.

According to the National Bureau of Investigation, Guo is actually Chinese national Guo Hua Ping based on their matching fingerprints.
