Net satisfaction with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s performance has improved in the past quarter at +27, up from the moderate +20 in March 2024, results of the latest Social Weather Stations survey showed Friday.

The survey, conducted last June 23 – July 1, 2024, found 55% of adult Filipinos satisfied, 15% undecided, and 28% dissatisfied with the President’s performance.

SWS said that compared to March 2024, gross satisfaction with President Marcos rose from 50%, gross undecided fell from 19%, and gross dissatisfaction fell slightly from 31%.

The pollster said President Marcos’ net satisfaction rating was highest in Balance Luzon at good +38, followed by Metro Manila at good +30, the Visayas at moderate +26, and Mindanao at neutral +5.

The latest figures showed net satisfaction with President Marcos increased by 24 percentage points among Mindanao respondents, from a poor -19 in March 2024 to neutral +5 in the latest survey.

Net satisfaction with President Marcos also improved in the Visayas, from +9 in March to +26 in the latest survey, an uptick of 17 percentage points.

Net satisfaction hardly moved in Metro Manila (+33 to +30) and Balance Luzon (+40 to +38).

SWS said by locale, net satisfaction with President Marcos was higher in rural areas at good +34 than in urban areas at moderate +23. “Compared to March 2024, President Marcos’ net satisfaction rating rose by 16 points from moderate +18 in rural areas. It hardly moved from moderate +21 in urban areas.”



PROMISES AND FOREIGN TRIPS

The survey also showed 9 percent of adult Filipinos believe Marcos will be able to fulfill all or nearly all of his promises, 187 percent said they expect the President to fulfill most of his promises, 48 percent said they expect him to fulfill a few and 23 percent said none or almost none. 



“The June 2024 percentage of 27% expecting all or most (% all or nearly all and % most, correctly rounded) of Pres. Marcos’ promises to be fulfilled was up by 5 points from 22 percent in March 2024,” SWS said.

Meanwhile, 8 percent of respondents also said the Philippines got very much benefit from Marcos’ foreign trips, 37 percent said the Philippines got much benefit, 34 percent said it got little benefit and 17 percent said it got almost no benefit it all.

Compared to October 2022, those who saw very much benefit from Pres. Marcos’ foreign visits fell from 16%, while those who saw much benefit fell slightly from 39%.

SWS first asked about the President’s foreign trips in December 1995, when 8% said the Philippines got very much benefit and 26% much benefit from President Fidel Ramos’ foreign visits. 

In July 2000, 12% saw very much benefit and 31% much benefit from President Estrada’s foreign visits. On President Aquino’s foreign visits, 19% said the country got very much benefit and 47% much benefit from them in November 2010, while 16% said the Philippines got very much benefit and 37% much benefit from them in December 2012.
