MANILA — The habagat enhanced by typhoon Carina will continue to bring heavy rains that could cause more flooding in already drenched areas early Thursday, PAGASA said.

At 2 a.m, the weather agency raised an “orange” rainfall warning over Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija and Bulacan.

“Flooding is threatening” in these areas, PAGASA warned.

It issued a “yellow” rainfall warning in Metro Manila, Rizal and General Nakar in Quezon, where residents should be on the lookout for “possible flooding”.

Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are expected within the next 3 hours over Laguna, Batangas and Quezon (Candelaria, Dolores, San Antonio, Sariaya, Tiaong, Tayabas, Infanta, Lucban, Lucena, Mauban, Pagbilao, Real, Sampaloc, Agdangan, Alabat, Atimonan, Buenavista, Burdeos, Calauag, Catanauan, General Luna, Guinayangan, Gumaca, Jomalig, Lopez, Macalelon, Mulanay, Padre Burgos, Panukulan, Patnanungan, Perez, Pitogo, Plaridel, Polillo, Quezon, San Andres, San Francisco, San Narciso, Tagkawayan, Unisan).

Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains affecting Cavite may persist within 3 hours, PAGASA added.

Carina was last spotted 450 kilometers north of Itbayat, Batanes at 3 a.m. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour and up to 250 kph gusts.

While Carina is now less likely to directly bring heavy rainfall over the country, it will continue to enhance the habagat or southwest monsoon, PAGASA earlier said.

It said the habagat would bring moderate to intense rainfall over parts of western Luzon until Saturday.
