The Philippine National Police is not monitoring any serious threat that could disrupt President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s 3rd State of the Nation Address but will remain on red alert while coordinating with other law enforcement agencies.

Two anti-government groups have been given permission to conduct street protests near Diliman Doctors Hospital while a pro-government group will have its own demonstration near the Commission on Audit. Authorities urged rallies not to occupy majority of Commonwealth Avenue.

Construction of makeshift platforms on Commonwealth Avenue will not be allowed.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo urged protesters to do away with the torching of effigies “because it will affect the flow of traffic.”

She said jamming of cellular phone signals during the SONA will depend on the situation. “It’s always a consideration. Titingnan natin ang magiging desisyon ng Presidential Security Command at Sergeant at arms,” she said in a TeleRadyo Serbisyo interview.

Police will also provide security to a rally in Liwasang Bonifacio near Lawton.
