MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. urged lawmakers Monday to approve the executive-crafted National Expenditure Program (NEP) for 2025 in their " usual timely manner" and, hopefully, with little to no revisions.

"We look to the cooperation of our colleagues in the legislature, not only that our proposed national budget be approved in your usual timely manner, but it be adhered to as closely as possible," Marcos said during his State of the Nation Address (SONA).

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) earlier said it would submit the 2025 NEP to Congress on July 29.

The executive-crafted NEP will go through months of review and revisions by lawmakers, first at the House of Representatives followed by the Senate.

The spending plan will become the basis of Congress' General Appropriations Bill, which it would submit to the President for approval, ideally before the end of the fiscal year.

The 2025 national budget is pegged at P6.35-trillion, the DBM said, which is 10.1 percent higher than the country’s budget this year.
