MANILA — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Saturday said it would submit the 2025 National Expenditure Program (NEP) to Congress on July 29.

The NEP is being printed now, a week before the expected submission, DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman told reporters.

“We will submit it on July 29 sa House of Representatives,” she said.

“Almost a trillion pesos ang mapupunta sa education sector natin,” she said.

“Infrastructure development, we will continue to invest on that, 5-6 percent of GDP,” she said.

The Agriculture sector can also expect “double-digit increases,” she said.

“We will still provide a big chunk of the budget for health response,” she added.

The DBM earlier said that the proposed 2025 national budget is pegged at P6.35-trillion, which is 10.1 percent higher than the country’s budget this year.

The 2025 budget “will build on the gains from the first two years of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and continue to usher in economic and social transformation for a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient society,” an earlier press release from the DBM noted.
