Some congressmen from Lakas-CMD and Nacionalista Party welcomed on Thursday a possible alliance with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas for the 2025 mid-term elections.

In his speech during the oath-taking ceremony of new PFP members on Wednesday, Marcos Jr. said his party is engaging with other parties for possible alliances and coalitions ahead of the mid-term polls.

“It is really just appropriate na under I guess sa coalition and alliances between the parties di ba po na we continue on that path of unity for the sake of progress, for the sake of development in our country,” said Lakas-CMD member Isabela 6th District Rep. Faustino “Inno” Dy. 

Marcos Jr.'s political party gears up for 2025 elections 

“Lahat ng LEDAC priority measures, lahat po ng mga SONA priority measures ay naipasa po dito sa House. At hindi po mangyayari iyon kung hindi po na unite ng ating Speaker, ng ating Presidente yung iba’t-ibang mga partido sa House of Representatives,” Lakas-CMD member, Nueva Ecija 1st District Rep. Mikaela Suansing added. 

Dy and Suansing however, note that they defer to the leaders of Lakas-CMD. The party is led by Pres. Marcos Jr.’s cousin, House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Romualdez has yet to issue a comment on the matter. 

Nacionalista Party lawmakers at the lower chamber of Congress are also open to a possible alliance with the PFP.

“Magandang balita ‘yan sa amin kasi ibig sabihin nun kaisa namin ang Presidente,” Taguig 2nd Distrcit Rep. Amparo Maria Zamora said. 

“Hindi naman hadlang na makipag-alliance ang aming partido sa partido ng ating Pangulo dahil ang common agenda ay ang serbisyo at demokrasya para sa bansa. So I don't think it's going to be a problem for the Nacionalista Party,” Surigao del Norte 2nd District Rep. Robert Ace Barbers added. 

The President targets to finalize his party’s alliances and coalitions before the filing of certificates of candidacy in October.
