MANILA — At least 1.2 million individuals were affected by floods due to persistent rains in Mindanao, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Wednesday.
The agency has released some 97 million in relief items and assistance for about 350,000 families from Davao, Caraga, and Bangsamoro, said DSWD Assistant Secretary Edu Punay.

"Kahit po magtuloy-tuloy ito, may pondo pa naman po ang ating pamahalaan. May naka-standby po kami sa DSWD na P3.2 billion na pang-relief operations," he told state television PTV.
"Usually it takes about a month kapag ganiyang scale ng damage pero long as mayroong nangangailangan, nandiyan ang DSWD Sa komunidad at magbibigay ng tulong," he said.
The disbursement of aid began last week after the agency noticed that flooding in the southern part of the country had lasted for over 2 weeks, he said.
