MANILA - The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said it will implement the Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) issued against seven Office of the Vice President (OVP) officials.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said that they received the order on November 6 and have promptly included the names of the seven officials in their centralized database.

The ILBO was issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ) followingthe request of the House of Representatives Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability.

The House cited a subpoena ad testificandum issued against the seven for their continued refusal to attend their Congressional inquiry related to the OVP's alleged fund misuse.

One of the seven officials from the OVP, who were summoned by the House panel, has left the country.

The Immigration Bureau said Atty. Zuleika Lopez, the chief of staff of Vice President Sara Duterte, flew to Los Angeles, California, USA on November 4, the night before resumption of the committee hearing on November 5.

Lopez and six other OVP officials skipped the House panel hearing for the fourth time.

The officials from the OVP declined to attend the House inquiry, saying that the deliberations were “not in aid of legislation.”

Viado, for his part, said the lookout order is for monitoring purposes only, and is not, in and by itself, sufficient to prohibit the subjects' departure from the country.

The Immigration chief said that the said order is accessible by all immigration officers nationwide, in all airports and sea port.
