MANILA  – The fiesta like atmosphere was in full swing on the second to the last day for filing Certificates of Candidacy for the 2025 national and local elections.

On the seventh day of the COC filing period, the Quirino Grandstand was filled with supporters of various senatorial and party-list aspirants as early as 8 in the morning.

Rain or shine, the supporters of several bets stayed outside to await the filing of their aspirant or to send them off to the venue, the Manila Hotel Tent City.

Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos got the VIP treatment and all out fiesta experience thanks to his supporters who filled the Quirino Grandstand.

Abalos was welcomed by a sea of blue, with dozens of his supporters wearing blue shirts, holding tarpaulins, placards with his face and other paraphernalia.

The setup was complete with two marching bands, dancers, speakers playing loud music and his supporters cheering and singing a custom theme song for the senatorial bet.

Abalos was accompanied by his supporters to the entrance of the COC filing venue.

Retired colonel Ariel Querubin also brought with him a marching bad and a throng of supporters, walking with him until they reached the gates of the Manila Hotel Tent City.

Among Querubin's supporters was Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, who expressed his belief in the Medal of Valor recipient.

Groups backing incumbent Senator Bong Revilla gave the actor-lawmaker a warm welcome, filling the front of the Quirino Grandstand while awaiting his arrival.

Revilla's supporters also brought him to the entrance of the COC filing venue.

The re-electionist Senator even went out to greet his supporters again after he filed his COC inside the venue.

Brining a new color to the Quirino Grandstand, a teal-themed parade was the send-off party for human rights lawyer Chel Diokno, who is the first nominee of Akbayan Party-list.

Diokno and the other nominees of the party-list were sent off by members of the youth, LGBTQIA+ and various communities.

A group of pink also filled the Quirino Grandstand in support of former Senator Bam Aquino, who seeks to return to the Senate.

The group even cheered on Diokno when he arrived in the area they were occupying.

Paige Javier, ABS-CBN NewsJeepneys also filled the Quirino Grandstand as supporters of Manibela Chairperson Mar Valbuena went to the area to show their endorsement.

Jeepney drivers present said they did not ply their routes to back Valbuena's senatorial bid. The groups also had a short program similar to their transport strike demonstrations while waiting for Valbuena, even greeting him as he left the Manila Hotel Tent City.

Meantime, also present were supporters of other aspirants such as former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson, 1Munti Party-list, OFW Party-list, PamilyaKo Party-list.

Supporters of Bagong Pilipinas Party-list also held a Zumba session at Quirino Grandstand while waiting for their aspirant.

Despite several groups converging at the Quirino Grandstand, there have been no untoward incidents reported to police.

Authorities once again reminded supporters that they can only send-off their aspirant until the front of the Ermita Police Station and they must return to the Quirino Grandstand

The Commission on Elections expects more aspirants and supporters to troop to the COC filing venues on the last day of the filing period on October 8, Tuesday.
