MANILA — Businessman and former governor Chavit Singson on Monday made his pitch for a Senate seat, promising to offer discounted e-jeepneys for drivers unable to afford the cost of the government's modernization push.

Singson was a long time governor of Ilocos Sur. He also served as mayor of Narvacan town in the same province from 2019 to 2022.

After filing his certificate of candidacy, Singson announced that he secureD a partnership with a foreign manufacturer to produce cheaper alternatives to the modernized jeepney units required by government.

He said the cost of each unit was P3 million but he would offer it to drivers for only P1.2 million.
