St. Gerrard General Consultancy and Development Corporation (SGGCDC) chief executive officer Pacifico "Curlee" Discaya II raised the idea to reporters days before his wife — Sarah Discaya — files a certificate of candidacy to challenge Sotto's incumbency.

"Ang sabi ko nga, mag charity works na lang tayo, gumawa na lang tayo ng mabuti na habang tayo ay nag-aaway sa pamamagitan ng charity works ay nakikinabang ang mga tao," Discaya said.

Sotto has yet to comment on the basketball game proposal, but the Mayor earlier scoffed at Discaya's statement that SGGCDC was only "provoked" to field a candidate in the upcoming elections because of the city administration's continuous allegations of fraud and irregularities against the construction firm.

For months, Sotto and Discaya have been trading barbs over allegations of fraud and harassment with the city administration filing at least 6 cases against SGGCDC.
