MANILA (5th UPDATE) — Some local government units (LGUs) have decided to suspend classes on Friday, October 25, due to severe tropical storm Kristine.
Classes at all levels in the following areas have been suspended:

Luzon

Antique

-Barbaza

Capiz 

-Dao (face-to-face classes only; until lifted) 

-Sapian (until lifted)

Negros Occidental

-Talisay

In its 5 p.m. advisory Thursday, PAGASA said Kristine was over the coastal waters of Santa Lucia, Ilocos Sur. It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 95 kilometers per hour, with gusts of up to 145 kph.

Signal No. 3 is currently hoisted over northern Luzon, while Signal No. 2 is raised over Cagayan Valley region, and parts of central Luzon and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Metro Manila, Batanes, Calabarzon, Mimaropa and parts of Bicol region, meanwhile, remains under Signal No. 1.

Kristine is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Friday.
