Only partial work suspension in Senate Wednesday

The Senate will continue with its committee hearings today despite the suspension of work in government offices ordered by Malacañang due to Tropical Storm Kristine.

According to an advisory from Senate Secretary Renato Bantug, Jr, Senate President Francis Escudero cited poor weather conditions in ordering partial suspension of work at the Senate Wednesday, October 23.

"In view of the committee hearings that have been previously scheduled for today, the Senate President has instructed that Secretariat officers and employees whose services are essential and necessary for the conduct of the said hearings are required to report for work today," the advisory said.

The advisory further states that the concerned offices of the Senate are directed to ensure the presence of personnel that shall assist in the hearings. "Those required to report for work shall be entitled to compensatory time off," The advisory said.

However all other Secretariat Employees need not report for work. Senate Proper employees may or may not be required to report for work at the discretion of their respective principals.

The Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality is scheduled to resume its investigation on the cases against detained Kingdom of Jesus Christ Leader Apollo Quiboloy today. 



The Senate Committees on Public Services and Finance are also scheduled to tackle various Land Transportation Office bills and franchise bills.
